      Reviews:

      • Wine Enthusiast: This ripe, spicy wine from the Dubourdieu domaines is balanced and full of attractive berry fruits. Firm tannins and fresh acidity go together with the richness and structure of the perfumed fruit. Drink from 2022.
      • VertdeVin: The nose is fresh and juicy. It reveals notes of ripe/juicy lemon, green apple and more slightly zest associated with fine touches of juicy mandarin, vine peach as well as a hint of juicy grape. The palate is juicy, racy and offers a beautiful acid frame/acidulous citrus, a beautiful freshness, a small fat, gourmandize, fullness as well as a beautiful grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of ripe/juicy lemon, juicy green apple, vine peach and more slightly mandarin associated with a hint of zests as well as a discreet hint of exotic fruits on the background (passion fruit, quenette) and very discreet/imperceptible touches of toasted. Good length.

      Producer Information

Clos Floridène is a producer of red and white wines based in the Pujols-sur-Ciron commune of Graves. It is one of five Bordeaux estates owned by the Dubourdieu family. Clos Floridène was founded in 1982 when Denis (1949-2016) and Florence Dubourdieu bought a number of plots to form an estate and christened it with a combination of their own names. The other four estates in the portfolio are the Grand Cru Classé second growth Château Doisy-Daëne and the châteaux Reynon, Haura and Cantegril. Clos Floridène has a total of 40 hectares (100 acres) of vineyards. These are planted with Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. A second red and white wine is produced under the "Drapeaux de Floridène" label. This is made from vineyards originally planted in the 1970s by wine merchant Pierre Costes and Denis' father Pierre Dubourdieu. In 1991 Costes sold his shares to Dubourdieu who incorporated them into the wider Floridène vineyard. Clos Floridène is well known for its dry white wines - a specialty of Denis Dubourdieu, who was also the director of the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences at the University of Bordeaux. He is seen as a pivotal figure in the increase in the quality of dry Bordeaux blanc.
