Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Deep ruby core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicate herbal aromas are supported by dark berries, some sea buckthorn and hints of orange zest. Very juicy concentrated palate with sweet strawberries, finely woven tannins and a fresh mineral finish with nutty hints.
Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: Composed entirely of Cabernet Franc this year, the 2021 Todeschini Distique 14 wafts from the glass with aromas of dark berries, loamy soil, woodsmoke and spices. Medium to full-bodied, lively and seamless, with powdery tannins and bright acids, it's a strong effort.
- James Suckling: This is vibrant and textured with firm and fine tannins. Medium body with notes of sandalwood, mulberries, raspberries and dried flowers. Attractively perfumed and textured. From organically grown grapes.
Producer Information
Château Mangot is a historic Saint-Émilion wine producer of Bordeaux, dating back to 1546. It has been owned and operated by the Todeschini family since 1976 and is thought to be the last vineyard in east Saint-Émilion before the Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon appellation. The 35 hectare (86.4 acres) vineyard of Château Mangot is planted with approximately 85 percent Merlot and 10 percent Cabernet Franc with a tiny portion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines average 40 years of age and are planted on limestone and clay-based soil types. The Grand Vin is primarily fermented in stainless steel prior to malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Barrel-aging is between 12 and 16 months depending on the vintage. The second wine is known as Château Bardoulet.
