Producer Information
Winegrowing is a profession of passion and elective affinities. One chooses to go down this path as much as one is chosen. In any case, this is what Valentina Andrei's career path illustrates - which in retrospect appears to be an obvious necessity. Born in Botosani, in the north of Romania, Valentina Andrei has been fascinated by the world of wine since her childhood. She secretly dreams of one day coming to Bordeaux and attending the Institute of Oenology. Fate will choose for her. Her place of choice will be the Valais, its lights, its vines clinging to the steep slopes, its harsh verticality. Her first training course in Beudon with Marion and Jacky Granges where she discovered the "vines in the sky" and, above all, biodynamics. An initiation. After the years of training (Châteauneuf and Changins), Valentina spent four years with Marie-Thérèse Chappaz. In 2013, Valentina tried the great adventure, rented some vines and made wine in a garage. The arrow is launched and the following year, she offers her first wines. In less than ten years, Valentina's wines shine in the firmament of the best wines of the Valais. Today, she owns and rents plots in several communes, Grimisuat, Leytron, Sion, Martigny and of course Fully (Chargeux, Seilles, Carroz, Combe d'Enfer and Combe de Noutse). Places that Valentina loves and magnifies. Her secret? Advanced viticulture, respectful of the balance of the plant and natural rhythms, which allows her to reveal the terroir rather than the grape variety in her parcel-based vintages. And, as a corollary to this approach, vinification is both precise and refined with a view to creating wines with a strong identity.
