The Macallan Gold is part of the 1824 range, and was released in 2012. The colour themed range replaced the traditional Macallan distillery's age-statement expressions. Produced in first fill and refill sherry casks, using 9-15 year old spirit, the result is in a smooth and rich single malt.
Macallan Gold Limited Edition Gift Pack Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Big citrus notes coming through with sherbet lemons and orange peel which then turns into more of a floral sweetness with hints of oak.
Palate: The citrus raises its head again but this time accompanied by warming ginger and cinnamon.
Finish: Sweeter on the finish with barley sugar and an oaky dryness.

The Macallan distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Craigellachie, Moray. The Macallan Distillers Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Edrington Group which purchased the brand from Highland Distillers in 1999.
