The Macallan 1940's (forties) Sherry Cask 40% 500ml: The excitement speed and superb engineering of the great steam locomotives, clad in liveries of green, countryside of the 1940's. During the same period, The Macallan was being distilled at Easter Elchies, high above the River Spey, delivering a single malt of the most delicious character. The style of The Macallan if the 1940's can now be enjoyed again - floral and fragrant with a rich, complex note of peat.

Nose: Apples with strong peat smoke, complemented by floral and fragrant notes.
Aromas of dried fruit and subtle hints of resinous spices add a degree of complexity.

Palate: Peat smoke with fresh apples, woody and a little nutty.

Finish: Peaty and nutty, with notes of wood.

Distillery Information

The Macallan distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Craigellachie, Moray, Scotland. The Macallan Distillers Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Edrington, which purchased the brand from Highland Distillers in 1999. The Macallan is generally considered to be the second or third highest-selling single-malt scotch, next to Glenfiddich and, by some accounts, Glenlivet. Originally, The Macallan was matured only in oak sherry casks brought to the distillery from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Beginning in 2004, The Macallan introduced a new main product, the Fine Oak series, with the whisky mellowed in bourbon oak casks as well as sherry ones. In 2018, the Fine Oak series was renamed as the Triple Cask Matured range.
