Mortlach 2008 12 Year Old Signatory Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML

A non-typical Mortlach from Signatory Vintage, ,It was distilled on 13 March 2008 and bottled on 5 May 2020 after 12 years maturing in a first-fill bourbon cask. Less meaty and weight than many whiskies from the distillery, this dram combines a buttery texture with fruit, vanilla and herbs. A moreish and tasty take on Mortlach.

Mortlach 2008 12 Year Old Signatory Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Barley sugar, green apples and a touch of woody spice – a toffee apple munched down to the stick. Vanilla notes build, with the apple sweetening and joined by whipped cream and toffee sauce, Notes of coconut macaroons and Dolly Mixtures develop.

Palate: The Dolly Mixtures are back, leading to more of the sharp apple notes from the nose. The vanilla has become a weighty custard, followed by a touch of spicy oak and damp forest. Gently woody spice builds, with touches of fragrant resin, aniseed and mint chocolate.

Finish: Finish is smooth and long.

Distillery Information

Mortlach distillery is a distiller of Scotch whisky in Dufftown, Moray, Scotland. Founded in 1823, the distillery is currently owned by Diageo. The whisky is a key component in several Johnnie Walker bottlings., while Diageo also markets four Mortlach single malts. The still pictured above is Dufftown distillery.
