Distillery Information

Starward was founded by David Vitale in Melbourne with the aim of creating a whisky that reflected the character of its Australian surroundings. The distillery sources Australian barley and makes extensive use of local wine casks, particularly barrels from Victoria’s renowned wine regions. Its purpose-built Melbourne distillery opened in 2016 and includes maturation warehouses and visitor facilities. Starward has become one of Australia’s most internationally recognized whisky producers, with its warmer Melbourne climate playing an important role in the maturation of its whiskies.
