        Producer Information

Francesco Rinaldi e Figli is an Italian wine producer, located in the Barolo appellation. It produces a range of wines in the various regional styles of Piedmont with signature variety here, Nebbiolo. Established in 1870, the brand was originally associated with the red wines of Alba, before the inaugural Barolo vintage in 1906. Founder Giovanni Rinaldi established the winery and cellar in the highly regarded Barolo Cannubi region. The winery was named for Giovanni's youngest son Francesco after he took over sole charge of the estate from his brothers in 1922. Francesco's granddaughters took over in the 1990s, expanding the winery's commercial markets internationally. Rinaldi's flagship wines are Barolos, but also produces wine from Barbera, Cortese, Dolcetto and Grignolino. The estate farms 2 hectares (5 acres) of Nebbiolo in Barolo Brunate, and a little more than that in Barolo Cannubi. It also has a further 3ha (7.4 acres) of Nebbiolo around the villages of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and La Morra, and a little more than 2ha (5 acres) of Dolcetto. The winery buys in Nebbiolo from local growers for its Barbaresco, along with Grignolino and Barbera.
