Nose: Gingerbread, vanilla, and rich prune aromas with hints of warm baking spices and subtle oak.

Palate: Peppery opening that evolves into honeyed gingerbread, dried fruit, and soft vanilla sweetness with a rounded mouthfeel.

Finish: Long and warming with lingering spice, oak, and gently sweet dried fruit notes.

Distillery Information

Founded in 1851 in the town of Condom in France’s Armagnac region, Maison Janneau is one of the oldest and most respected houses dedicated exclusively to Armagnac production. The house is notable for using both traditional Armagnac continuous distillation and double distillation, a rare practice in the region that adds depth and elegance to its spirits. Aging takes place in historic cellars where eaux-de-vie mature slowly in French oak, developing the rich fruit and spice profile that defines the Janneau style. Over generations the brand has built one of the largest reserves of vintage Armagnac stocks, allowing releases from specific harvest years like this 1988 bottling. Today Janneau remains one of the most awarded producers in the category and continues to showcase the heritage of France’s oldest brandy.
