          Producer Information

Domaine Albert Grivault (often written "Albert Grivault" after the prominent name of the labels) is a well-regarded wine producer based in the town of Meursault, in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy. It produces a range of wines from (predominantly Chardonnay) grapes sourced across local and neighboring communes. The estate has been extant for over 140 years and its position in Meursault dates back to 1877 when Albert Grivault took over the town distillery. Despite being better-known for its Eaux de Vies (Grivault also established a distillery in the southern French city of Béziers in 1888), the wider holdings included vineyards and wine production in Meursault. In 1879, Grivault buys the one-hectare (2.5-acre) Clos des Perrières vineyard holding from the Marquis de La Troche, establishing what will become the domaine's flagship wine. Clos des Perrières (effectively a monopole holding) lies within the wider Meursault Perrières vineyard of which Grivault also holds over 1.5 hectares (five acres), although some of this production is sold to négociants. In 1904, Grivault's holding in the Meursault Charmes vineyard was bequeathed to the Hospices de Beaune (it is still produced as Cuvée Albert Grivault). Following his death five years later, the estate is run by his widow and subsequently his daugthers Berthe and Mathilde (the latter takes the surname Bardet by marriage). Her son Michel Bardet and sisters Marguerite and Denise, took over the estate in 1980 with Bardet's children Claire and Henri-Marc joining the estate in 2004. Marguerite Bardet retired from her position at the estate on its 142nd year, in 2019. The majority of production is centered on Meursault, which (alongside the flagship Clos des Perrières) includes holdings in Perrières and the Clos du Murger which produces both a Meursault village-level wine and a Bourgogne Blanc. All are Chardonnay-based with the red, Pommard Clos Blanc Premier Cru Pinot Noir the only exception.
