      Producer Information

Viña Cobos in an Argentinian wine producer, located in Mendoza, with vineyards in the Luján de Cuyo and the Valle de Uco subregions. Since the inaugural vintage in 1999, these prestigious wines have been internationally acclaimed and won many awards. The wine portfolio of Viña Cobos is led by the Cobos line. The flagship super-deluxe bottling is simply titled Viña Cobos Malbec (see below). Other range are Viña Cobos Vineyard Designate, Viniculum, Bramare Appellation, Cocodrilo and Felino. Along with the various red wines made from Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, several whites are made from Chardonnay.
Vineyards and winery: The altitude of the estate vineyards in Luján de Cuyo range from 945 to 1100 meters (2625 to 3600ft). Soils are alluvial with a subsoil of clay, silt and rock. The Marchiori vineyard is situated here, as well as the winery and the new estate vineyards which surround it. The vineyards in the Valle de Uco, Zingaretti and Chañares, range from 900 to 1400m (2950 to 4600ft). Soils here are alluvial, sandy and rocky, with some areas of limestone. Precision farming techniques using modern computer monitoring systems are employed. In the winery, movement of juice and must is done gently, powered by gravity to aid the preservation of phenolics. Both American and French oak are used for the barrel maturation process. To maintain the complexity of the wines, no clarification is utilized.
