Ellie's is dense garnet in color, with lifted aromas of cassis, fresh blackberry, violets, earth, black olive, black pepper, and high tone barrel spices of cinnamon, clove, and caramel. The seamless palate is fresh, elegant, lengthy, earth, and chocolatey. The wine finishes full of energy with a balanced wash of acidity.

Producer Information

HALL Wines is a leading Napa Valley wine producer, with wineries in Rutherford and St Helena. It specializes in wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon. Around half of the fruit used come from some 500 acres (200 hectares) of estate vineyards. The rest comes from a number of grower vineyards throughout the Napa Valley. Former diplomat Kathryn Walt Hall and her husband Craig Hall (owner of a major Dallas-based property business, HALL Group) founded HALL St Helena in 2003 after acquiring the historic St Helena Bergfield winery. This was once the home of the Napa Valley Co-op, which produced 40 percent of the regions wine. HALL Rutherford had originally been purchased in 1995, but was officially opened in 2005. The Halls also own the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay specialist WALT Wines, and Zinfandel producer BACA Wines. Kathryn Walt Hall's family have owned vineyards in California since 1972.
