The color has a dense purple hue and is accompanied with copious amounts of intense aromatics across the red and blue fruit spectrum. The nose is full of barrel spice, scorched earth and Ecuadorian cocoa powder. The mid palate swings for the fences with its multi-layered pure glycerol nature and keeps pumping out waves of intoxicating fruit.

• Wine Advocate: Made up entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Elysian opens with cassis, blackberry preserves and incense with touches of cigar box, dried herbs, earth and smoked meat. Full-bodied and tightly wound in the mouth with firm, grainy tannins, the wine has many layers ready to spring and a mineral note on the finish.

Full-bodied, beautifully balanced, ultra-fine and pure, with terrific tannin, it's another great, great wine from Mike that's going to evolve for 25+ years.

Mt. Brave is a tribute to the pioneering spirit of those who settled the rugged terrain of Mt. Veeder during the 1800s and an homage to the Wappo Indians, "the brave ones," who were the original inhabitants of this extraordinary place. The Mt. Brave Vineyard, once the Chateau Potelle Vineyard, was established decades ago at elevations ranging from 1,400 to 1,800 feet. While Mt. Veeder is cool, Mt. Brave sits above the fog line, with morning sun warming the grapes each day. Soils are a sparse, gravelly loam. Nutrients and minerals are scant, resulting in tiny berries with concentrated and complex flavors. At harvest, small lug boxes must be carefully moved up and down the steep slopes to protect both vines and vineyard workers.
