Producer Information
Château Feuillet are a small producer located in Saint-Pierre of the Torrette production zone in the northwest of Italy, founded by Maurizio Fiorano in 1997. All wine of Château Feuillet is produced from their estate vineyard of four hectares (10ac). Located on the banks of the Dora Baltea River at an altitude of 650 to 850 meters (2,1330 to 2,790ft). The site has a south facing aspect which maximizes the exposure to sunshine and shelters the site from the cold Alpine winds from the north. This altitude is beneficial in creating a diurnal temperature variation to slow the ripening process and aid the development of phenolic ripeness. Today, Château Feuillet produces wine from multiple different DOCs including Chardonnay, Petite Arvine, Torrette and Fumin. Their flagship wine, Torrette Superiore is produced from the finest grapes of their estate. Once arriving in the winery, grapes for Torrette Superiore are briefly dried in packing cases prior to a slow maceration on skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in small oak barrels for six to eight months prior to bottle ageing before release. Since 1997, Fiorano has expanded the vineyard and winery with modern equipment and facilities, but in terms of winemaking has chosen to keep more traditional techniques of production.
