      Producer Information

Domaine Forey Père et Fils is a Burgundian wine producer based in Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits region. The domaine focuses entirely on red wines made from Pinot Noir. The portfolio is headed by two grand cru wines from Vougeot and Flagey-Échézeaux. It also features five premier crus, two in each of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges, and one in Morey-Saint-Denis. Village-level wines are made from all three appellations. Unusually, three different village Vosne-Romanée wines are made from the same fruit. The "conventional" bottling is aged in 500-liter hogsheads (see below for winemaking). Jarre is aged in terracotta for a little extra minerality, while the Menhir cuvée is made in a truncated cone-shaped oak vat. A number of Bourgogne wines are also made. The Forey family has an established presence in Vosne-Romanée and oversaw the viticulture and vinification of the La Romanée Grand Cru vineyard, the smallest of appellation in France, until 2001. Régis Forey's grandfather etablished the estate by working among the vines of Vosne-Romanée in exchange for vineyard parcels. Because of this, the 1.8 hectares (4.4 acre) the estate farms in the village are split between 30 parcels. The estate is managed by Régis Forey since the early 1980s. He bottled the first wines from the estate in 1983. Régis has extended its total vineyard holdings to 5 hectares (12.5 acres) of estate owned vines, and a similar amount either tenanted (fermage) or through métayage (sharecropping). This expansion included the purchase of an additional Echezeaux Grand Cru vineyard parcel and Les Gaudichots Premier Cru vineyard plots. The estate does some Chardonnay and Aligoté. The grapes are sold off and no white wines are made.
