        Producer Information

The estate was established in 1929 by Robert Joillot – great-grandfather, and a winegrower and plant nursery owner in Pommard. Robert Joillot married Marthe Popille, the daughter of the baker of Pommard. Georges Joillot, their son, was born on 15 January 1934. Georges took over from his father but died suddenly in 1971, leaving behind his son Jean-Luc Joillot, then aged ten, and his wife Simone Joillot (née Porcheray), who was left the difficult task of taking care of the farm on her own. There were two parts to manage: the winegrowing and the production of vine plants. In 1981, when he was twenty years old, Jean-Luc Joillot, the third generation at the estate, took up the torch in collaboration with his mother Simone Joillot. They then worked six hectares of vines under the new label “Domaine Jean-Luc Joillot”. In the 1990s, Jean-Luc Joillot married Lydia Joillot (née Dessaint). Together, they developed the estate by exporting their wines and acquiring a plot of Pommard 1er Cru “Les Charmots” and a plot of Pommard 1er Cru “Les Epenots”. Lydia gave birth to their daughter Jeanne Joillot in 1995.In 2015, Simon Goutard, Lydia’s son from her previous marriage, trained with his stepfather Jean-Luc to become a winemaker. And thus began Simon’s passion for wine! In 2017, Jean-Luc’s daughter Jeanne trained in accountancy/management and worked at the family estate. And it was in 2018 that Grégoire Guidot, Jeanne’s spouse, joined the estate. In February 2019, this new fourth generation took over the family estate, with its current fourteen hectares of vines. Thus, Jeanne Joillot Jean-Luc’s daughter, Simon Goutard his stepson, and Grégoire Guidot his son-in-law are carrying on the tradition, while continuing to modernise the estate. From the 2019 vintage, in tribute to Jean-Luc’s father, the “Domaine Jean-Luc Joillot” was renamed “Domaine Georges Joillot”. An identity is reborn. a new style of wine is created.
