      Detailed Description

Fresh and ready-to-drink Riesling, typical of the area of origin and with an interesting aging potential. Perfect to combine with hard cheeses, foie gras and aperitifs based on shellfish.

      Producer Information

Château Schloss Reinhartshausen lies in the central Rheingau in Germany and has been operating as a winery for the past 680 years. The estate specializes in Riesling; its production of this variety is documented back to 1337. The winery lives by the philosophy that "the narrower the origin of a wine, the higher its quality". This is reflected in the winery's single vineyards, led by the Erbach Schlossberg and Erbach Marcobrunn sites. These are described by the winery as their Icons. The former lies adjacent to the Schloss (castle) and drops down to the road next to the river. Marcobrunn ("Border Fountain") lies directly above Schlossberg and extends further to the west, on either side of the railway. Erbach Siegelsberg, Erbach Hohenrain, Hattenheim Nussbrunnen and Hattenheim Wisselbrunnenin are further Grosse Lagen vineyards from which the estate farms world class Riesling. The range of "mainland" wines also includes a Riesling Trocken (dry) and a fruity Riesling Kabinett. Brut and Exra Brut sparkling wines are also produced from Riesling. On Mariannenaue, an island in the Rhine River, 24 hectares (60 acres) of vines are grown to Weißburgunder, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Roter Riesling. The range of wines are labeled as Insel (Island). The estate also operates a wine bar on site, and a guesthouse.
