2023 | Mullineux | Granite Old Vines Chenin Blanc

The vines, aged 47 years, benefit from deeper root systems and increased canopy cover. This Chenin Blanc reveals a structured bouquet over time, with notes of yellow plum, Mirabelle and wax resin. The palate displays a balanced and intricate profile, characterised by an oily texture. As the tasting progresses, hints of white pepper and orange rind become evident on the finish.

Distillery Information

Mullineux Wines is a notable South African wine producer located in the Swartland, best known for its extensive portfolio of terroir-expressive Syrah and Chenin Blanc wines from the region's granite, schist, and iron-based soils. Founders and winemakers Chris and Andrea Mullineux have taken a natural approach to winemaking since the winery's establishment in 2007. In addition to the vineyards on their property (Roundstone Farm, see photo) they work with growers who approach farming with sustainable and natural methods. In addition to Syrah and Chenin Blanc Mullineux's vineyards are planted to Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Viognier.
