Producer Information

Vinhos Barbeito is a family-owned Madeira house, located on the south coast of the island, 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) west of central Funchal. Founded by Mário Barbeito de Vasconcelos, it has been producing fortified wines since 1946. The house produces a large range of fortified wines under the Maderia DOC as well as select table wines from Verdelho and Sercial. The Maderia fortified wine portfolio includes 3 year old, 5 year old, 10 year old offerings as well as a Frasqueiras, a Single Harvest and a Single Cask range of wines. Rainwater Madiera is also produced by the company, an increasingly rare sight on the Madeira market. Vinhos Barbeito sources grapes from vineyards all over the island. Tinta Negra and Verdelho are sourced from the São Vicente area, whilst Malvasia and Serical come from São Jorge in the northeast.
