Caol Ila 12 Year Old 2011 - Old Malt Cask 25th Anniversary (Hunter Laing) Whisky | 700ML

A Caol Ila single malt aged in a sherry butt and bottled for Hunter Laing's Old Malt Cask range for its 25th anniversary series. It was matured for 12 years and drawn from a manzanilla sherry butt, yielding a total of 750 bottles.

Nose: Peat, sea brine, and shortbread.

Palate: Smoke, peat, and gentle lemon.

Finish: Long, with lingering peat.

Distillery Information

It was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson. The distillery did not fare well, and changed hands in 1854 when Norman Buchanan, owner of the Isle of Jura Distillery, took over. In 1863 the business was acquired by Bulloch Lade & Co, of Glasgow, traders in whisky stocks.
