Glenturret 1990 Sb 30 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: A beautiful sweetness rises from the glass, raisins, figs, rum balls and dark chocolate. Also delicate cherry jam and cigar tobacco, also some beeswax.

Palate: The sweetness comes to the fore, along with strong cocoa aromas. Raisins in chocolate, nougat, dried blackberries, passion fruit and spices.

Finish: Very long, lengthening the impression on the palate. The sweetness shows up again with sultanas and dried canberries, but then fades into the background. Dry wood smoke, cocoa powder and cinnamon stay in the memory for a long time.

Distillery Information

The Glenturret Distillery is two miles (three kilometres) northwest of Crieff in Perthshire, Scotland. on the banks of the Turret River. The distillery is hidden in the glen and its secluded location may have contributed to its early history as the site of several illicit bothy stills. The high hills to either side of the distillery were thought to act as lookout points for the smugglers. When Alfred Barnard visited the distillery he described the glen as "a perfect paradise to artists, who come in great numbers to transfer some of its transcendent beauties to canvas". The distillery is located in the parish of Monzievaird and Strowan.
