The range Ichiro's Malt is named after Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the founder of Hanyu distillery. The Peated 2016 was distilled in 2012 from strongly peated malt and bottled in 2016 at 54.5% cask strength. It is the fourth peated whisky to be released in this range and has been described as a beautiful yet complex drink.

Nose: Sweet aromas of citrus fruits, vanilla, honey, apricot and baked apples.
Palate: In the mouth aromas of caramel, nutmeg, cloves and dark chocolate dominate.
Finish: At the finish there is a long aftertaste.

Chichibu distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery. Founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, and operational from 2008, it was the first new Japanese distillery since 1973. It is located at Chichibu, a city in Saitama Prefecture, Japan.
