New Liberty Bloody Butcher Bourbon Whiskey

In the early 1800s, European settlers in the southern United States blended their corn with a native variety. The result was Bloody Butcher corn: instantly recognizable for its striking deep red kernels and legendary fruity, buttery flavor. Unsuitable for industrial scale farming, this heirloom variety is grown by only a few farmers. New Liberty Bloody Butcher Bourbon celebrates our nation’s early agricultural heritage. We sourced Bloody Butcher corn from Castle Valley Mill in Doylestown, PA, just 25 miles from our distillery, and combined it with malted rye and barley from Deer Creek Malthouse in Chester County, PA.

New Liberty Bloody Butcher Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Pleasent aroma.

Palate: This blend of corn, barley, and rye gives the bourbon a balanced flavor, with notes of milk chocolate, butter, leather, and stone fruit on the palate.

Finish: A dry spice on the finish.

Distillery Information

New Liberty Distillery is located in a vibrant north Philadelphia neighborhood, just minutes from Center City. Their building once served as a stable, and much of its architecture, including the horse stalls, have been preserved. The building now provides a home to our custom-made still, as well as the rick house where we barrel age our whiskey. In addition to the working distillery, they also feature a beautiful bar and tasting room where you can sample their whiskey and enjoy craft cocktails created by their in-house mixologist Sam. Their Heritage Collection and New Liberty whiskeys, spirits-related gifts, and other locally sourced products can be purchased in their retail space.
