Hailing from the iconic, and long-lost Port Ellen distillery on Islay, this exceedingly impressive single malt was bottled by Douglas Laing to mark an equally impressive occasion – it's the independent bottler's 75th Anniversary.

Nose: "The nose opens sugary sweet ahead of a citric, oceanic, beachy and warm cereal backdrop."

Palate: "The mouth-puckeringly salty palate is so Islay in style with bonfire ash, smoking peat and coal dust."

Finish: "Catch smoke on the finish with soft chewed leather, chimney soot and a phenolic creosote style."

Distillery Information

The Port Ellen distillery was founded in 1825 by Alexander Ker Mackay. The distillery lies not far from the centre of its namesake town, Islay’s main port, and draws its waters from the Leorin Lochs. John Ramsay, a local Member of Parliament, acquired the distillery after Mackay went into bankruptcy. Ramsay was a leader in his field and recognised the opportunities that exportation to America could offer.
