    The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Wildfoote Vixen Block is super-refined, silky and expressive. Inky blue and purplish fruit, lavender, spice, licorice and mint are all woven together in this attractive, mid-weight wine.

      • Wine Advocate: Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Vixen Block Wildfoote Vineyard offers up a very serious nose of cassis, blackberry pie and blueberry compote with hints of dried lavender, underbrush, Chinese five spice and cigar box, plus a waft of dark chocolate. Full-bodied and densely packed with black fruit preserves and earthy layers, it has a firm frame of finely grained tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with epically long exotic spice nuances. Only 125 cases were produced.
      • Vinous: The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Wildfoote Vixen Block is super-refined, silky and expressive. Inky blue and purplish fruit, lavender, spice, licorice and mint are all woven together in this attractive, mid-weight wine. The 2015 is floral and lifted, with tons of Stags Leap character. I never thought I would use the word ‘restrained’ to describe a Russell Bevan wine, that is exactly what this is.

      Bevan Cellars is a producer of Napa Valley and Sonoma wines based in Bennett Valley. It sources fruit from vineyards across the two major wine regions to produce small-lot wines made primarily of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Bevan Cellars' full-bodied, richly flavored wines score high with the press, making them highly coveted by collectors, and usually only available on allocation. The estate was founded by Russell Bevan and Victoria De Crescenzo in 2005. Before relocating to California, the two made regular trips to Napa Valley where they met and were mentored by esteemed winemakers Philip Togni and Bob Foley. In 1999, Bevan and De Crescenzo moved to California permanently, settling on an 3.5-hectare (8-acre) property in Bennett Valley. They planted just under a hectare to vine, and experimented with a ton of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Showket Vineyard in Napa Valley's Oakville appellation. In 2005, Bevan Cellars had its first commercial release. Bevan Cellars is most famous for its red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, both varietal and as part of a Bordeaux blend. These wines include the Sugar Loaf Mountain Red, the Tin Box, and the McGah Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, all of which have been awarded 100-point scores by American wine critic Robert Parker.
