Wine color is an opaque, inky blue/purple with garnet rim. On the nose: Blueberries, blackberries, lilac and sweet cigar box aromas. Hints of licorice, cassis and black cherry. On the palate the texture is rich and velvety smooth. Medium plus acidity which gives the wine a freshness not seen enough in Napa wines. An intense blend of red & black fruit come through immediately, followed by a dazzling display of mineral & earthy nuances and complexities. Tannins are ultra fine-grained and highly polished. Finish is pure & lasts over a minute. Gradually drifting off with subtle oak and chocolate suggestions.

The vineyards at Frank Fredericks Estate are both majestic and unique. Located between 800 and 900 feet above sea level, the vines are perfectly situated between the valley floor and the high altitude hillside. This balance creates fruit with complex tannic structure like hillside vines yet retains all of the intense, fruit-forward flavors like benchland fruit. Our vineyards are also blessed with gravelly volcanic soils which force the vine roots to reach deep into the earth to survive. Deep roots bring a gorgeous minerality into the fruit and the grapes produced are tiny and acutely concentrated. Frank Fredericks Estate’s main property is located on the east side of the valley. East of Yountville and just south of Atlas Peak. We also maintain a small property in the heart of Oakville, which we feature in certain vintages.
