Red Wine: 2015 | Vinedo Chadwick | Chadwick

Very deep and primary fruit character to this red gives the wine amazing length and focus. It seems to go on forever. Full body yet vivid and energetic. Tannic and muscular yet so polished and refined. Drink now. But one for the cellar as well.

        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: I also tasted the 2015 Viñedo Chadwick from a warm and dry vintage that resulted in very healthy grapes that were picked earlier than ever. The parameters are remarkably similar to the 2014, and the winemaking and élevage were also virtually the same, fermentation in stainless steel and aging in French barriques (73% new) and with some 15% matured in a Stockinger oak foudre. As I saw in many other 2015s, this is the most elegant and refined vintage I have seen of this wine. With ultra-refined tannin, the wine is dry, very clean, not minty at all, with very good tension and length, with a chalky, tasty, almost salty finish. Of course, the classical notes of cedar wood, black peppercorns and tobacco are there, but in a very subtle way. Super elegant.

        Producer Information

Viñedo Chadwick is the award-winning flagship Chilean red wine of the Viñedos Chadwick group, which also owns labels such as Errazuriz and Seña. It is a single-vineyard release heavily based on Cabernet Sauvignon, with just a dash of Petit Verdot. The first vintage, the 1999, was released to widespread acclaim, while the 2000 release made headlines when it won an international blind tasting in Berlin in 2004, pitched against some of the greatest wines of France and Italy. The 2014 and 2017 vintages were given 100-point scores by leading critic James Suckling. The vineyard is located at the estate which is the Chadwick family home in the Alto Maipo Valley. The vines were planted in 1992 on what was formerly Don Alfonso Chadwick's polo field (after some campaigning by his son Eduardo who had recognized the potential of the terroir).
