      Detailed Description

The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny comes mainly from the premier cru Les Baudes (80%) and the rest from the village portion of Les Véroilles (20%). Although technically a village-level wine, it's essentially a premier cru. A wine with a very refined strawberry bouquet, tautness, and plenty of freshness.

        Reviews:

        • Burghound: Here the wood isn't subtle and while it doesn't completely dominate the spicy red and dark berry fruit aromas, it comes close to it. Like the Clos de Bèze, this is notably full-bodied and concentrated with a seductive and sappy texture adding to the overall appeal of the classy and lingering finish where the wood shows up again. This appears to have the stuffing to ultimately integrate the oak and my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt in this regard.
        • Wine Spectator: Laced with black cherry and blackberry fruit, this juicy red picks up violet, iron, spice and toast flavors. A muscular frame holds everything together, as this leans more to the Morey side than the Musigny side.

        Producer Information

Five generations have been running the Domaine for 163 years, Caroline and Nicolas, Christine and Philippe's children represent the sixth. In 1850, Jean-Baptiste Laroze started a vineyard operation in Gevrey Chambertin. He was later succeeded by Felix LarozeAROZE. Each successive generation continued to develop the Estate with the sole objective of investing in hillside vineyards, which was a visionary and risky choice. At the time, those vineyards were already very expensive and not very productive. The bet paid off and today, thanks to the sacrifices and risk-taking of the previous generations, the 11.50 hectare Estate is one of the most prestigious in terms of diversity, quality and the surface area of its appellations.
