      Detailed Description

A delicious Merlot, with intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and cassis. Complex nuances of cocoa and coffee bean emerge as the wine opens up.

        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Merlot Mailbox Vineyard Reserve gives up cedar, plum preserves and spice box with wafts of bay leaves and pencil shavings. The palate is medium-bodied, firm and chewy with a good amount of fruit and a peppery finish.
        • Antonio Galloni: The 2017 Merlot Reserve Mailbox Vineyard shows sweet dark cherry, lavender, spice, tobacco and grilled herbs. It is darker and richer next to the straight Merlot. Translucent and expressive, the 2017 will drink well with minimal cellaring. This is a very classic style.

        Producer Information

Robert Keenan Winery is a Napa Valley wine producer, located in the foothills of Mayacamas mountain range in Spring Mountain District. The estate produces a range of wines, focusing on the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape varieties. The estate was originally planted in the 1890s to Zinfandel and Syrah, but the property was abandoned during Prohibition. It remained unoccupied until Robert Keenan purchased the estate in 1974. The Keenan family still owns the 69 hectare (170 acre) estate, about 19ha (48 acres) of which is planted to vines. The vineyards are farmed sustainably and planted to Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot on Spring Mountain's steep, rocky mountainsides. The estate's top wines, the Mernet Reserve, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, are both sourced from the estate vineyards.
