Intense cherry. Aroma with marked emphasis of tasty notes of oak and black fruit, mineral background. Powerful palate, warm, flavor some with tannins of oak still marked against those of fruit, hints of great length, mineral back aroma with traces of ripe fruit.

• James Suckling: This has very fine tannins and is driven, with a long, linear finish. Subtle and complex aromas and flavors of dark berries, minerals, sage and lavender bush. Medium body. Fresh finish. A little tight at the end.

• Jeb Dunnuck: The 2019 Finca el Bosque is another single vineyard and comes from a site on a deep, gravelly escarpment overlooking the Ebro River. It offers more ripe blue fruits and cassis as well as sappy herbs, flowers, violets, graphite, and chalky minerality. It shows a more elegant, flawlessly balanced, incredibly pure style on the palate, with ultra-fine tannins, wonderful overall balance, and no hard edges. This is pure class. Give bottles 3-4 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following two decades of more.

Sierra Cantabria is a leading Spanish wine producer known for its Tempranillo-based range from Rioja and Toro. The company was founded by the Eguren family in 1870, and was previously known as Bodegas Eguren. Fourth generation Marcus Eguren is regarded as one of the country's leading winemakers.The company is made up of several different bodegas and their associated vineyards. The Sierra Cantabria winery itself is located in the heart of the town of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in Rioja Alta, and makes a range of classic Rioja wines from 19 vineyard sites totalling 65 hectares (160 acres).Sierra Cantabria also makes a range of single-vineyard wines from the region, including the Señorio de San Vicente wine from the La Canoca vineyard in the Sierra de Cantabria foothills, which is planted with the near-extinct Tempranillo Peludo.Near the medieval village of Laguardia in the Basque Rioja Alavesa zone, the Viñedos de Paganos winery produces single-vineyard cuvées from three plots, which are aged in underground cellars cut beneath the vineyards.
