      Producer Information

Abbona (sometimes refered to as "Mariziano Abbona") is a wine estate in Dogliani, Piedmont, best known for its wines from the Nebbiolo and Dolcetto grapes. The estate was founded by the first Marziano Abbona and his son Celso, who planted the Doriolo vineyard that supplies the flagship Papà Celso Dogliani DOCG cuvée. This wine is widely regarded as the best from the appellation. When Celso died in 1964, the business passed to his sons Marziano and Enrico, who built the original winery and produced the first bottles under the Abbona name. The brothers also began to purchase additional parcels of vines, particularly in Barolo, where their holdings include plots in Ravera and Cerviano in Novello, and Pressenda in Monforte d'Alba. Today, there are 52 hectares (128 acres) of estate vineyards. Abbona's extensive range of red wines features three Cru (single vineyard) Barolo wines, several Dogliani DOCG Dolcettos, and Barberas. The portfolio also includes a sulphur-free Langhe Rosso made from a blend of Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera, and the I Due Ricu cuvée – a blend of Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Pinot Noir. Other wines include the flagship white Cinero cuvée, a Langhe Viognier, a Roero Arneis, a sweet Moscato and a Metodo Classico sparkling wine.
