Detailed Description

Introduced by San Francisco based Hotaling & Co. (formerly Anchor Distilling Co.), J.H. Cutter is a resurrected brand from the mid-1800s. It is a blended American whisky (using the spirit’s spelling of the day). The blended whisky is as follows: 73% sourced bourbon from Kentucky Bourbon Distillers aged 4.5 years, 17% Old Potrero 18th Century Style Rye Whiskey aged a minimum of 3.25 years, and 10% Old Potrero Port Finish Rye Whiskey aged 4 years. It is bottled at 48% ABV.

J.H. Cutter Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: The aroma slings cloves, oranges, and fistfuls of malt powder.

Palate: On the palate, bitter orange, dark malt, and heavy handed spices. To be honest, it’s all a little chaotic.

Finish: At the finish the flavors dry up and wind down so fast it’s as if the circus was barely in town.

Distillery Information

Hartfield & Co., formerly the gentleman, is a small batch distillery located in paris, ky. They are the first licensed distillery in bourbon county since prohibition forced the closure of the distilling industry in 1919. It's odd to think that out of all the bourbon currently produced in the world, none of it has been produced in bourbon county - until now.
