Detailed Description
This 21 year old Campbeltown malt was distilled at the famous Springbank distillery in 1992 and bottled at natural cask strength 51.9% ABV in 2013. A former Bourbon hogshead, cask 248 was purchased in 1992 by Dion Gunson, a wine merchant with ties to the Springbank distillery. Gunson deliberately chose to mature his cask for exactly 21 years as this would allow the whisky to develop to its full potential and in harmony with the cask. With only 150 bottles yielded from cask 248, this is indeed a very rare specimen. The label was designed by Scottish artist, Chris Watson.

Nose: Peat smoke mingles with honeyed cereal notes on the nose along with toasted hazelnuts and a pleasant dollop of vanilla.
Palate: The palate brings yet more peat and smoke along with a touch of sweet fig fruit. A drop of water opens things up and floral and citrus notes come to the fore.
Finish: The finish combines dry oaky notes with a nuttiness and yet more delicious peat smoke - superb!
Distillery Information
The Springbank distillery is a family-owned single malt whisky distillery on the Kintyre Peninsula in western Scotland. It is owned by J & A Mitchell & Company, who also owns the Glengyle Distillery, the oldest independent bottler, William Cadenheads, and several blended scotch labels.
