          Producer Information

Jean-Marc Brocard is a white wine producer located in Chablis, France. Brocard is exported to nearly 50 countries and is best known for producing Chardonnay from each appellation of Chablis: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru. Jean-Marc Brocard established his first vineyard in 1973, from a one-hectare (2.5 acre) plot of land in PrĂ©hy, southwest of Chablis, that he and his wife were gifted a year prior. From one to 200 hectares (294 acres), Brocard has both purchased and contracted some of the oldest and best land in Chablis to make its wines. Jean-Marc Brocard is a family company and Jean-Marc’s son, Julien, operates as CEO. Julien has been instrumental to the improved health of estate vineyards and since joining the family domaine in 1995, 60 hectares (148 acres) have been certified organic and 40 hectares (99 acres) are biodynamically farmed. Brocard’s winemaking style is traditional to the region. It harvests and vinifies vineyards separately to showcase the unique terroir of each wine and, although barrels and larger format oak is used, Brocard uses no new wood. Brocard’s Chablis Premier Cru climats (vineyard sites), including Fourchaume, MontĂ©e de Tonnerre, Montmains, and Butteaux, are mainly produced in stainless steel, while the impressive Grand Cru climats, Blanchots, Bougros, Grenouilles, and Les Clos, are vinified and aged in large wooden foudres. Beyond Chablis, Jean-Marc Brocard produces some wine from nearby appellations in the Burgundy region including a Sauvignon Blanc from Saint-Bris and Pinot Noir from Irancy.
