      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: The 2015 Nenin is a blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc, cropped at 37 hl/ha between 17 September and 5 October over nine picking days. The alcohol arrives at 14.3%. Matured in 35% new oak, it sports a precise and elegant bouquet. This is a more nuanced Nenin compared to recent vintages whereby the Merlot is more expressive than the Cabernet Franc at present. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin. This is very well balanced, a more sophisticated Nenin than in recent years, due to Jean-Hubert Delon's decision to deselect some worthy parcels into the deuxième vin. There is an attractive sappiness towards the finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. I would just like to see that Cabernet Franc finding its voice by the time this 2015 is in bottle, but this Nenin has very good potential. One to watch.
      • Wine Spectator: Lush and ripe, set apart in this vintage by good, juicy energy that allows the plum sauce, raspberry pâte de fruit and cherry compote flavors.

      Producer Information

Château Nénin is a producer in the Pomerol region of Bordeaux. Like all the wines of Pomerol, Nénin is not part of any classification, but it is highly regarded example of the appellation.Nénin makes two wines that are both Merlot-dominant red blends. The first is the eponymous grand vin, the second is the Fugue de Nénin which was first sold in 1997.Château Nénin is relatively large by Pomerol standards with 32 hectares (80 acres) under vine. Consistent with Pomerol and Bordeaux's right bank, plantings are dominated by Merlot at 76 percent, followed by 23 percent Cabernet Franc and 1 percent Cabernet Sauvignon. Planting density is high at 6300 to 7100 plants per hectarePlantings of Cabernet Franc have increased in recent decades. This has mainly been at the expense of Cabernet Sauvignon, which once played a bigger role but is now unlikely to feature in the finished blend of either wine.
