      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: The 2020 Mangot has turned out beautifully, bursting with aromas of cherries, wild berries, rose petals, blood orange and bay leaf. Medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, it's pure and vibrant, with a layered core of fruit, velvety tannins and a long, mouthwateringly chalky finish. This is a brilliant wine that sells for a song and which surpasses many of its more well-known neighbors.
      • James Suckling: A firm and linear red with plum, bark, wet earth and mushroom aromas and flavors. Hazelnuts. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins that are integrated and together.

      Producer Information

Château Mangot is a historic Saint-Émilion wine producer of Bordeaux, dating back to 1546. It has been owned and operated by the Todeschini family since 1976 and is thought to be the last vineyard in east Saint-Émilion before the Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon appellation. The 35 hectare (86.4 acres) vineyard of Château Mangot is planted with approximately 85 percent Merlot and 10 percent Cabernet Franc with a tiny portion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines average 40 years of age and are planted on limestone and clay-based soil types. The Grand Vin is primarily fermented in stainless steel prior to malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Barrel-aging is between 12 and 16 months depending on the vintage. The second wine is known as Château Bardoulet.
