      Detailed Description

Langlois-Chateau’s Sancerre is serious and complex but also delicate and approachable. The grapes are from a selection of the best vineyard plots and undergo a gentle pressing to extract the purest juice and are handled exclusively in stainless steel.

        Producer Information

Langlois-Chateau is a wine estate in the Saumur appellation. Sparkling Crémant de Loire wines are the flagship products. In addition several ranges of still wines are also produced from Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. These come from vineyards in Saumur, Saumur-Champigny, Sancerre and other Loire Valley locations. The company was founded in 1912 by husband and wife Edouard Langlois and Jeanne Chateau who began the business by producing sparkling wines. The business was a success but underwent an upheaval when Edouard was killed in World War I. Upon his death, Jeanne took over the running of the estate. The estate's continued success led to Maison Bollinger in the Aÿ-Champagne commune purchasing majority ownership in 1973. This significant investment led to the cellars being expanded and the planting of new vineyards in Saumur and neighbouring appellations. In 2007, the winery at the historical St-Hilaire St-Florent site underwent an overhaul with all the production equipment, cellars and general administration offices moved there to be within greater proximity to the vineyards.
