Nose: Drying spice develops alongside marmalade and soft toffee.

Palate: On the palate it is very elegant and opulent.

Finish: Spicy finish with peppered heat and caramel sweetness.

Distillery Information

Flor de Caña Distillery (Spanish for "sugarcane flower") is owned and produced by Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua, which was founded in 1890 - although Flor de Caña was not marketed commercially until 1937. Its story began when, in 1875, Italian explorer Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa travelled to Nicaragua. By 1890, he had found the site for Flor de Caña distillery in Chichigalpa at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano. Situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, the most active volcanic region in the world, the natural area boasted incredibly fertile soils and mineral enriched reservoirs, while the hot climate was of course ideal for the ageing of the rum.
