Producer Information
Geyser Peak Winery is one of California's oldest commercial wineries. Based in Sonoma County, it is most closely associated with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, but also makes other popular California varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zinfandel. The company was founded in 1880 by Augustus Quitzow in the Alexander Valley, which falls within The Geysers, the largest geothermal area in the world. Geyser Peak was based in the Alexander Valley until 2013, when Francis Ford Coppola bought Geyser Peak's facilities to house his new Virginia Dare label. Geyser Peak relocated to the neighboring Dry Creek Valley appellation. The flagship of the portfolio is the Walking Tree Cabernet Sauvignon of which includes a tiny portion of Shiraz. In the winery, small French oak is utilized for the barrel-aging process of the entire range including the estate Chardonnay and a small portion of the Sauvignon Blanc.
