Detailed Description

This single cask comes to us from family-run indie bottler Hunter Laing & Co. Specially selected and bottled for the Heritage series in the Platinum Old & Rare Selection, this expression was distilled at Glen Garioch in the Highlands in 1988. Matured for more than three decades, it has been bottled at a natural cask strength of 49.1% abv free from all chill filtration and artificial colouring. Just 223 bottles have been produced of this limited edition.

Glen Garioch 1988 31 Year Old Platinum Old & Rare Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: This dark gold whisky has a herbal nose with notes of gingerbread, black tea, and cocoa powder.

Palate: Oranges on the palate, with stewed apples and a hint of Turkish Delight.

Finish: The finish is long and grassy, with a touch of coffee.

Distillery Information

The Glen Garioch distillery (pronounced Glen Geerie) was founded around 1797 by the Manson brothers, although many claim it was in fact Thomas Simpson. Different sources tell different stories. It is located in Oldemldrum, a small town in the Highlands famous for producing the finest barley in all of Scotland.
