Gruvguld translates to 'gold from the mine' and is a reference to the unique maturation of this Swedish single malt, which was aged in small casks of 30, 100 and 128 litres 50 metres below ground in the mine of Bodås. A variety of cask finishes were used for this one, including casks that previously held Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Mackmyra Gruvguld Whiskey | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Green apple, blood orange peel and dried apricots. Sweet notes from tobacco, vanilla custard and hazelnut, as well as a little salted butter and oak spice, add depth.
Palate: This is extremely rich and very balanced in flavour.
Finish: Lingering finish.
