Town Branch Oloroso Sherry Barrel by Barrel and Bottle

Expanding on an already great single malt, the bourbon barrel whiskey was finished in a fresh Town Branch Bourbon barrel, adding a rich buttery caramel layer and more texture onto what already was a silky smooth malt. The 2nd, aged in an Oloroso Sherry cask for over 10 years, is incredibly deep and rich with dark fruits, cocoa, and light citrus.

Town Branch Oloroso Sherry Barrel by Barrel and Bottle Tasting Notes

Nose: Ripe cherries, old oak, chocolate, dark molasses, baked plums – the more it breaths, the more the chocolate and fruits come out; water heightens this even more.

Palate: Baked cherries and plums, molasses and dark cocoa. Raisins in the middle palate. Water opens it up quite nicely with the molasses and cocoa becoming dominant. So many years in the Oloroso Sherry barrel adds a significant twist.

Finish: Mature oak, cocoa, burnt fruits with less sweet. Slight pepper. A bit dry, but really lingers. Water brings out milk chocolate and sweeter fruits. It just does not feel like 60% ABV.
