Red Wine: 1992 | Domaine de la Romanee Conti | La Tache
When first opened, the nose is quite floral with a curious geranium component but with air, the aromas evolve toward spice and dried rose petal notes followed by medium weight, rich, nicely sappy flavors of good if not great elegance and length.

Reviews:
- Burghound: When first opened, the nose is quite floral with a curious geranium component but with air, the aromas evolve toward spice and dried rose petal notes followed by medium weight, rich, nicely sappy flavors of good if not great elegance and length. Really very pretty and very fine in the context of the vintage.
- Jancis Robinson: This was another wine actually pressed on those of us who attended the Marie Curie fundraiser in Vintners' Hall in November 2018. But it was not quite as luscious as the RSV 2003. The 1992 season was notoriously wet with mildew and rot but it was saved by a relatively dry August and a small crop. This was not as intense as most wines from this domaine and even had a slightly tart note. It mellowed in the glass after 90 minutes and was not flattered by the comparison with the Romanée-St-Vivant.
Producer Information
Domaine de la RomanĂ©e-Conti, or DRC as it is commonly known, is easily Burgundy's best-known and most collectible wine producer. Based in the Burgundy village of Vosne-RomanĂ©e, the domaine sells wines from eight different grand cru vineyards that span the length of the CĂŽte d'Or. The most famous comes from the eponymous RomanĂ©e-Conti vineyard, and on average is the most expensive wine in the world. The domaine predominately produces Pinot Noir-based wines from 28 hectares (69 acres) of grand cru vineyard. Alongside RomanĂ©e-Conti are La TĂąche, RomanĂ©e-Saint-Vivant and Richebourg in Vosne-RomanĂ©e; plus Ăchezeaux and Grands Ăchezeaux bottlings. Fruit from Corton-Bressandes, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Renardes is combined in a single Corton Grand Cru red. There are three white (Chardonnay) wines made. Only one of these, the Montrachet is made widely avilable. A BĂątard-Montrachet and a Bourgogne Hautes CĂŽtes de Nuits are not publically distributed. Of course, La RomanĂ©e-Conti is the domaine's most famous asset, and the amount of wine made from less than 2ha (5 acres) of land amounts to just 6000 bottles a year. The vineyard has a long history, dating back to the Abbey of Saint-Vivant in the 13th Century. It took on the RomanĂ©e name in 1631, and the Conti in 1760.Today, DRC is owned in part by the de Villaine family and in part by the Leroy family. Aubert de Villaine is the figurehead of the company now â although it was famously run by Lalou Bize-Leroy for a time, until a dispute saw her ousted from control.
