      Detailed Description

Delicate and impressive depth on the nose. The finish is quite unique, rich and long lasting.

        Producer Information

Château Moulin Saint-Georges is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé wine estate closely associated with the well-regarded Château Ausone. The Vauthier family, owners of both estates, has remained proprietors of Château Moulin Saint-Georges since 1921. The château produces a single, Merlot-dominant Bordeaux blend, crafted by the same team that produces Château Ausone. Although sometimes referred to as a junior version of Château Ausone, the terroir at Château Moulin Saint-Georges is quite different. The seven-hectare (17-acre) estate is composed of clay over limestone soils on a flat site and planted to Merlot and some Cabernet Franc. The vines primarily face west and lie at the foot of the Saint-Emilion plateau, beneath Château Ausone, just south of the town of Saint-Emilion itself. The vines at Moulin Saint-Georges receive extended afternoon sun exposure and average 25-30 years old. The wine of Château Moulin Saint-Georges is an indicative blend of 80 percent Merlot and 20 percent Cabernet Franc. For vinification, the grapes are picked by hand and sorted, then ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steels tanks. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation in barrel and ages up to 18 months in around 85 percent new French oak.
