      Producer Information

      O. Fournier is a wine company established in 2000 by the Spanish Ortega Gil-Fournier family. Initially based in Mendoza's Uco Valley, the group also boasted a winery in Spain's Ribera del Duero as well as having production in the Maule and San Antonio valleys in Chile. The company has since been sold although the O. Fournier name has been retained by the current owners, Argentina was the focus of the brand and the winery has around 94 hectares (232 acres) of vines. The flagship wine is simply called O. Fournier, and depending on the year, may be a Syrah, Malbec or a blend. There are several wines under the Alfa Crux and B Crux labels, now produced by the Agostino wine group. In 2002, O. Fournier added the Finca El Pinar estate in Ribera del Duero to its portfolio. The vineyard was first planted in 1946, and made a range of wines from Tempranillo – the region's main grape variety. O. Fournier also produced wines from Chile, generally based on the Bordeaux varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. O. Fournier's Mendoza operation – probably the most synonymous with the company – was sold to Mendoza-based winery Finca Agostino in 2018 for an undisclosed sum. The iconic Fournier winery in the Uco Valley, 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of Mendoza, has been redubbed the Alfa Crux winery. High-profile Spanish wine producer González Byass acquired the Finca El Pinar winery and vineyards in Ribera del Duero in 2019.
