The resulting wine has complexity, superb structure, and an inviting, mouth-filling palate which are hallmarks of the Sangiovese-based DOCG. Pair it with tordelli filled with pork capocollo and Diavola sauce for a truly Tuscan experience.
Producer Information
Castiglion del Bosco is a Tuscan producer in the northwest of the Montalcino appellation. It cultivates an estate of entirely Sangiovese for its Brunello and Rosso de Montalcino wine portfolio.The Bosco property covers 2000 hectares of land with 62ha (153.2 acres) of vineyards planted entirely to Sangiovese. The vines are divided into two distinct plots – the 20ha Gauggiole vineyard and the 42ha Capanna vineyard. An elevation between 250 and 460 metres (820 to 1509 feet) allows for wind penetration into the canopy as well as a diurnal temperature shift to encourage ripening.
