Reviews:

• Wine Spectator: This delivers a very tightly focused, almost piercing beam of cassis, raspberry coulis and bitter cherry fruit, scored with singed alder and iron notes. Incense and tobacco details chime in on the finish. Long and refined, with the fruit leaving a sweet and mouthwatering echo. Best from 2022 through 2038.

• Vinous: The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve emerges from two blocks on the western edge of the property where gravelly, alluvial soils naturally produce low yields in the vineyard. Black cherry, menthol, lavender, spice and dried flowers all develop enticingly in the glass. Bright and focused with plenty of supporting structure, the 2016 is extremely expressive, even in the early going. I would give it a few years in bottle to soften.

Groth Vineyards and Winery is located in the Oakville sub-appellation of Napa Valley, California. It is known for its Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon wines, but produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and, more recently, a Bordeaux-styled Estate White as well.The inaugural 2019 Estate White is a Bordeaux white blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon and is the first Groth white wine to be produced from fruit gown exclusively on the Oakville vineyard. Groth's wines are distributed across the United States, and are available at the winery, which is known for its distinctive California Mission-styled architecture. Dennis Groth is actively involved in the Napa Valley wine community, and has served as president of the Napa Valley Vintners. Groth continues to be family-owned and operated today.
