      Producer Information

19 Crimes is an Australian wine brand established in 2012 by Treasury Wine Estates. Its focus is on value-priced red blends made from grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Grenache, Durif and Mourvèdre. These typically have small amounts of residual sugar to be suited to a broad range of consumer palates. The label takes its name from England's historic practice of shipping convicts to penal colonies in Australia. 19 Crimes references specific crimes whose punishment was automatic transportation to the Australian penal colonies between 1788 and 1868. While 19 is the number of crimes often cited that carried this penalty, historically there were many more crimes that resulted in the same sentence. 19 Crimes' bottles all carry photos of real convicts transported to Australia. In 2020, the label expanded into California in partnership with the American rapper Snoop Dogg. The 19 Crimes Snoop Cali is a duo of a red-blend and rosé produced from Zinfandel, Grenache and a small portion of Pinot Noir. The grapes for the wines are sourced from across Australia's viticultural regions and typically carry the South Eastern Australia, or state-wide Victoria, designations.
