      Reviews:

      • Wine Enthusiast: This wine comes from an estate in the western end of the Margaux appellation. The rich tannins and structure of the wine show its aging potential. It is complex and structured, black fruits working with the well-judged tannins and dense texture
      • James Suckling: Attractive aromas of blackcurrant and black cherry with some flowers, following through to a medium body with very fine tannins and lovely integration of fruit.

      Producer Information

Château d'Arsac is a wine estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux's northern Médoc region. The estate – which is one of the oldest in the region – has vineyards in both Margaux and the wider Haut-Médoc area, making wines under both denominations. The château, its grounds and most of its attached vineyards lie in the center of the commune of Arsac, at the very southwest of the Margaux appellation. The commune of Arsac, along with Margaux-Cantenac, Soussans and Labarde, make up the appellation. Château d'Arsac's nearest major neighbor is Château du Tertre, roughly four kilometers (2.5 miles) to the northeast, on the other side of the village of Arsac, heading towards central Margaux. The estate's land was first planted to vine in the 18th Century and both the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties have thrived in its gravel and sandy soils. The phylloxera crisis hit the estate hard, however, and every single vine on the estate had to be removed. This core wine range is supplemented by the estate's Winemakers Collection label. Each year a guest winemaker is invited to create their own unique wine from Château d'Arsac's vineyards, with the winemaker having full control over the entire winemaking process, right from the field through to bottling. Renowned winemakers such as Michel Rolland and Stéphane Derenoncourt have lent their talents to this concept.
