      Detailed Description

        Reviews:

        • Wine Enthusiast: Piercing lemon and green-apple flavors are accented by hints of smoke, hazelnut skins and honeysuckle in this concentrated expression of the Folatières vineyard. It's ample and velvety in texture yet anchored by a nervy tension and bracing acidic edge.
        • Vinous: The palate is rounded and fat in the mouth. This is packed with tropical fruit, but there is sufficient acidify to back it up and a lovely honeyed texture on the finish. Not intellectual, but delicious.

            Producer Information

The Monnier family, Xavier Monnot’s maternal ancestors, can trace their presence in Meursault back to 1723, and since then, six generations have been active in viticulture. In the intervening three hundred years, the family accumulated seventeen hectares of vineyards, stretching from Beaune to Maranges, including a number of enviable plots in the premier crus of Meursault Charmes, Puligny Folatières and Volnay Clos des Chênes. Xavier took the reins in 1994, but it was only in 2005 after a period of fine-tuning that he started producing wines under his own name. His style is certainly an engaging one, highlighting purity of fruit and vineyard character, while demonstrating a rare ability to combine elegance and opulence.
